At first Instagram allowed to directly disable videos from autoplaying, however, now there is no such function. But there is a little trick to it. Instagram allows you to configure your Instagram app so that it would use less mobile data. This will consequently disable videos from autoplaying.

If you are using iOS smartphone (iPhone, iPad), then follow these steps:

  1. Open up Instagram app on your smartphone and login to your account if you haven’t already;
  2. Tap on the Menu icon on the upper right corner of your screen, from the drop-down menu select “Settings”;
  3. Select “Account” and click on “Cellular Data Use”;
