How to add hashtags to stories?
You can add hashtags to your Instagram stories in different ways. You can place a hashtag as a simple text, sticker or insert hashtag as a location tag. Different from simple posts, hashtags on stories appear in the image itself.
One thing to notice is that stories with hashtags will not always appear in hashtag aggregation. Will your story appear in hashtag aggregation mainly depends on the Instagram’s algorithm, engagement and overall quality of your story. Remember, if it won’t appear in hashtag aggregation, it is still worth adding hashtags to the stories.
As I already mentioned, there are three different ways how you can add hashtags to your Instagram stories. I will explain those in detail.
Text. Most commonly used hashtags are text hashtags. If you want to add few hashtags to your Instagram story, then just type hashtags with the text tool while creating your content. Keep in mind that you can include up to 10 hashtags per story.
Stickers. You can also add sticker hashtag to your Instagram story. It is the same as adding a simple text hashtag, just that hashtag comes in a more attractive image. To add sticker hashtag to your story, just press sticker icon on the right upper side of your phone screen, select and customize your hashtag and add it to your story. Sticker hashtags are just a more attractive version of text hashtags.
Unfortunately, there is one disadvantage of using sticker hashtags compared to simple text hashtags – you are limited to adding only one sticker hashtag.
Location. Not certainly a hashtag, because it is really a location tag. But still it can serve as a hashtag and provide all the same discoverability opportunities as a hashtag. So, location tag functions almost the same as a hashtag.
But keep in mind that location tag can only be posted using Instagram stickers feature. And that also means that there can only be one location tag per story.
Almost every location tag has an aggregated Instagram story. This means that by adding location tag you increase your chances to get discovered more.
How to add an invisible hashtag to your story?
If you use a lot of hashtags on your Instagram stories, then it can seem a little spammy. Different than with simple Instagram posts, you can hide hashtag from your story. How to do that? It’s simple, there is a little trick to it.
Just type in all the hashtags you want to use with your Instagram story and then make hashtag text smaller. Then place an image sticker or gif over your hashtags. That’s it, your hashtag content is hidden under the image sticker or gif, but still can be found in search!
