How often should you post on Twitter?

As I have stated earlier, there is a really big controversy going on with this topic. You see, if we would be talking about posting on Facebook or Instagram, different sources provide different optimal posting frequencies, however, they all say that you should be posting around 1 – 3 times per day.

However, we see a different situation if we are talking about Twitter. Some sources say that you should be posting 1-3 times per day and some recommend to tweet 15+ times a day. Can you imagine such a big gap in different studies?

That’s why I am writing this article, so that you wouldn’t have a doubt how often you should post on Twitter.

Social Bakers did a study on 11000+ tweets and analysed the correlation of amount of tweets posted to the engagement rate. What they found out is that after your 3rd post on Twitter the average engagement rate per tweet starts decreasing.

However, as you may see that after 3rd tweet the total engagement rate is still increasing and it stops increasing after 4th tweet. Total engagement is more important because the more engagement you get, the more new followers you gather and the faster your profile grows.

Long story short, according to this study, if you want to save your time and post tweets that get optimal results, you should be aiming to post no more than 4 tweets per day.

You should also note that Twitter posts have incredibly short lifespan, so it is really important to spread your tweets throughout the day. Don’t just post 4 tweets all at once and be done for the day. Try to space out your tweets by 3 – 4 hours. If you can’t find time to do that, just use tweet scheduling. This will save your time and bring better results.

Keep high quality while posting on Twitter

It is worth mentioning that you should also concentrate on quality of your tweets. Two quality tweets per day would do more for you than four average tweets. So, make sure to post only quality posts.

If you are unable to post four quality posts per day, then you should consider lowering your tweeting frequency by increasing the quality of it.
